When hearing of home-based office, the first thing that pops in your mind is possibly a messy room where a reckless designer is working in his pyjamas. It has a lot of unclean coffee cups and papers, pencils, CDs are thrown "freely" everywhere... Well, that's NOT true, absolutely not.

Most of the time, there are two types of persons who will set up a home-based office: newly graduate students who hate to work for someone else and tired employees who just quited their day jobs (I happened to be both of these types). Those persons are usually independent, self-disciplined and have fairly strong personality. Obviously, an untidy home-based business will soon be out of the game.

Actually setting up a home-based business can bring a lot of profits that you may/may not think about. Check this list out:

  • You can cut down cost on transporting expense, lunch and ...clothes (office lunches and formal clothes usually cost more that home meals and casual outfits.)
  • You save a lot of time travelling back & forth to your company.
  • You can focus better. No I'm not kidding. Having your own business will make you less dependent and more responsible for your time spent. You are your own judgment now.
  • You can listen to your favorite music without begging your colleague to stop his crazy music.
  • You can give yourself even a day break.
  • You can have some beers on a hot day.
  • And finally, you got NO BOSS peeping at your computer screen anymore. Yeah I know, this is the most important one.
